From Gulf to Land

Hey there! I'm Dylan, the proud owner of Dillweeds Custom Wood, and I'd love to share my story with you. My career began in the oil field, where I climbed the ranks from deckhand to captain over five years. However, in 2016, I lost my job, and finding work in the oil field became increasingly difficult due to multiple layoffs.

Returning home with a unique skillset that didn't easily translate to land-based jobs, I needed to figure out my next move. Life had other plans, though - I got married and with a baby on the way, I knew it was time to find a new way to support my growing family.

One day, my brother showed me some pictures of river tables, and I was instantly intrigued. I decided to take a leap of faith and invest my last bit of savings into purchasing slabs and epoxy. My very first project was a maple burl river table, and I instantly fell in love with the entire process.

Through trial and error, and overcoming a few hurdles, my dream has transformed into the stunning furniture pieces you see today. I'm excited to share my passion for woodworking with you, and I hope my creations bring warmth and beauty to your space!

- Dylan
